Tricia Taylor - Tailored Practice - The Science of Learning Session 1

We are extremely pleased to confirm that Tricia will be leading three sessions for us on The Science of Learning. Session 1 will be applicable to all phases and Sessions 2 and 3 will be phase specific as per the below outline: -
Session 1. The Science of Learning
a. Introduction to Memory
b. Working memory and cognitive load
c. Research into the most effective strategies
d. The role of metacognition
Please Note:
Session 2 (Primary Focus) which will build on the key learning from Session 1 will take place on 10th March 2022 and is listed as a further event that will need to be booked separately.
Session 3 (Secondary Focus) which will build on the key learning from Session 1 will take place on 17th March 2022 and is listed as a further event that will need to be booked separately.
After 20 years of teaching and leading in schools in London and New York, Tricia founded TailoredPractice - to pursue a passion to make research more practical for educators. Her goal for TailoredPractice is to communicate complex ideas in more straightforward and meaningful ways and create curricula and strategies that are grounded in research and shaped by expertise.
Since starting TailoredPractice, Tricia has partnered with numerous British and international schools and presented at a wide range of education conferences including regular appearances at Learning and the Brain conferences in the US and the Festival of Education in the UK. Her book, Connect the Dots: The Collective Power of Relationships, Memory and Mindset in the Classroom, is a culmination of her work over the past several years.
Previously, Tricia was Director of a large creative arts faculty and a Lead Practitioner at an “Outstanding” all-through 4-18 school in London, Head of Department, English and media teacher and an Associate Lecturer for English at Goldsmith’s University teacher training programme. Before that, she taught English at a high school in Brooklyn, New York.
Tricia’s other roles include: Strategic Advisor to Inclusive Schools, whose important work aims to bring gender equality to our schools; ambassador for Leadership Matters and a fellow for the Royal Society of the Arts, where she co-coordinated the RSA Mindfulness Network for many years.
